The President of the United States (US), Joe Biden, has extended an invitation to the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., to visit the White House.
According to a report published on July 3 by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, US Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff presented Marcos with the invitation letter from Biden.
Emhoff, married to the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, was the head of a delegation that traveled to the Philippines for Marcos' inauguration on June 30.
While this was happening, the Philippine ambassador to the United States, Jose Manuel Romualdez, stated that the President would travel to the United States whenever their schedules would allow it.
Although a contempt order is currently in place in the United States, the President is granted diplomatic immunity to travel there in his capacity as head of state.
